Cellugel is a professional preparation for consolidating weakened and dusty skin., developed by conservators of books and historical collections. The product has been created with the aim of effectively protecting leather affected by the phenomenon known as „red rot” – a characteristic decay and powdering of the leather binding surface.
For added protection, conservators often apply a finish of Renaissance Wax. Renaissance Wax can be ordered via this link: Renaissance wax
Personally recommended to us by the British Museum Conservation Department: "Cellugel leather consolidant can be used with good results and properties for very dry and brittle leather."

The formula based on hydroxypropyl cellulose and isopropyl alcohol allows for deep penetration of the skin's structure. and its effective strengthening without changing the appearance of the material. After application, the preparation dries quickly, leaving no film, discolouration, or darkening effect on the surface.
Cellugel:
Strengthens and stabilises degraded skin, limits further dusting and crumbling of the material, preserves the natural appearance of the binding, and is recommended for the conservation of books, archival materials, and historic objects.
The preparation is applied with a brush directly to the skin's surface. If necessary, it can be gently diluted with pure isopropyl alcohol.
Capacity: 340 g / 12 oz
